Funky Sole Recap

Two weeks ago I made a long overdue return to play what is without a doubt one of my favorite parties in the world, Funky Sole.  If I’m correct, my first time playing this night was in 2007(?) at the old venue before making it’s move to The Echo and I’ve had the pleasure to do some from time to time ever since.  My last appearance was just as amazing and fun as my first and it’s always an honor to be invited back in to rock alongside the DJ fam, Miles Tackett and Clifton with major shouts to Nancy for always taking care of me.

Another special highlight of the evening was the official Daptone DJ takeover out on the back patio with a full house in tune to proper selections. The night felt like a family reunion catching up with friends that I had seen in a while including Tom from Budos Band, Cut Chemist, Greg Belson, Danny Holloway (Ximeno Records), DJ Paren (Naptown Soul Club), DJ Personify (Little Big Things) and a few others.  Without a doubt, Funky Sole is that official Saturday night get down that’s always a sure shot and with the amazing photos captured by FarahStop, you can enjoy a tiny portion of the experience and if you’re ever in L.A., definitely spend your night there.
