Those Dusty Donuts guys are back with another release and in true Hip Hop fashion of bridging originals with their 90’s club classic counterparts. For their 10th release (yes, it’s been 10 already), the duo of Marc Hype and Naughty NMX take a stab at “Funky Thang” with some stone cold James Brown and connect the dots through the underground via LOTUG, gear up on your fatigues and Timberlands because you’ll need them! The flip side takes elements of some of my favorite 45 selections including Gwen McCrae, Sister Nancy and Sweet Charles to pay homage to Main Source. Hearing “90% Hangin Out” shows you exactly how deep Main Source was digging and just how crafty they were with putting songs together especially with this one. Concocted by none other than Jim Sharp who never disappoints with these releases.
