Ubiquity Records strikes with a slice of hot wax of the much needed and previously only available digitally and limited pressing 45 of Kaleta & Super Yamba Band’s “Mr. Diva” b/w “Hungry Man, Angry Man”. Dynamite afro grooves is the perfect way to describe this release and surely a crate essential.
Kaleta & Super Yamba Band’s debut single, “Mr. Diva,” draws on the group’s shared reverence for the raw, psychedelic afrofunk sound that captivated Kaleta as a music loving kid in 1970s Benin. Kaleta’s guitar chops earned him decades of recording and international touring with Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade and more recently Lauryn Hill. “Mr. Diva” was recorded live to tape at Hive Mind Recording in Brooklyn, NY and produced by Vince Chiarito (Charles Bradley, Ikebe Shakedown).
