It’s been quite sometime since we’ve gotten a new 7″ from The Stance Brothers but their latest on the We Jazz Records label was not only worth the wait, but is also something that takes us back to the 90’s where the go to samples were all Jazz related. As soon as you drop the need down, you’ll instantly recognize the inspiration behind the title track “On Top” and it’s usage in Hip Hop.
Producer/drummer Teppo Mäkynen shares a new release with his celebrated alias The Stance Brothers. “On Top” is a solid gold Stance groover which appears on this We Jazz Records 7″ vinyl single as two versions. On side A, the track is led by guitar and flute (the latter courtesy of Diamond T aka Timo Lassy) and the flip introduces a soul jazz scorcher with organ & vibes. Both cuts are ripe and ready to be enjoyed by DJs and home listeners alike.
“On Top” follows the remarkably successful Stance sides “Resolution Blue” and “Minor Minor”, all part of the ongoing 7″ series by We Jazz Records. The 7″ comes with old school heat-pressed labels and a stylish generic brown sleeve.
