Library Music Series: Crime / Oceanography

Several months back, 2 Header Deer announced that they would start a new Library music series that would cover a spectrum of genres and sound scapes which instantly piqued our interests. Fast forward to the present and it looks like they’re just a few short weeks out from release date and debuting volumes 1 and 2 in the series.

Series 01 of the Library Music Series focuses on “Crime” which happens to be our favorite sounds on film from the 60’s and 70’s.  They have put together a track compilation focusing on crime, noir, and thriller genres recorded by the italian band “Larry Manteca” between 2013 and 2023 in various studios in Milan and its province and inspired by Polizieschi / Spaghetti Crime Film soundtracks , orbiting musical genres from West Coast jazz and inner-city funk to psychedelic and synth-infused sounds . Definitely one for the fans of Stelvio Cipriani, De Angelis brothers, Fidenco ,Piccioni, Umiliani ,Bruno Nicolai , etc.

Series 02 takes our ears and senses to the deep seas with “Oceanography” and deals with the topics of marine exploration, diving and many other underwater adventures. This recording is highly influenced by Jacques Cousteau’s features „The Silent World & World Without Sun“, The Adventures of Tintin and Wes Anderson’s „Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou“. It pays respect to classical music albums on the subject of water, like Sven Libaek’s „Inner Space“, Walt Rockman’s „Under Water“ or Les Baxter’s „Jewels Of The Sea”.
