Fat Beats continues on with their producer based Baker’s Dozen vinyl series and the latest market the ninth so far, each further expanding on the previous giving the listener satisfactory head nod appeal. The next producer to be featured and bring his signature sound is Elaquent with “Hard Times” who keeps it simple with what he uses and how he’s lays tracks out.
“In the beginning it was all about flipping samples with FL Studio and just my computer keyboard, and over the years, I added the MPD and Masterkey in order to be able to jam out drums live and play keys, which speeds up the workflow. I like the effects on the 404, and there’s a lot of dope ways to integrate my iPad into it, but at the end of the day, it starts with a melody or sample, and I kinda just let the vibe take over.”
As with previous releases, the project features 12 cuts, a 7″ flexi-disc featuring a bonus “Baker’s Dozen” cut, and a 5×7 postcard insert that features a photo of the artists workspace along with the equipment used in the music-making process.
