The Zone Identity – Soul Food b/w Melting Pot

We’ve been discussing the topic of cover versions a lot lately and distinguishing between the do’s and don’ts of how to not f*ck up a song from it’s original concept but being able to take it further into new territory and expanding it to new heights.  Not always an easy task but someones gotta do it and the best for job are those who get it and actually understand the process behind the music as well as being true fans of the music which is where The Zone Identity comes into play. Consisting of J-Zone (drums), Ed Littman (guitar / bass), Bennett Pastor (organ) and Ray May (congas), the band stepped into the studio to tackle a pair of Booker T. & The MGs classics with “Soul Food” and “Melting Pot”.  As expected, they’ve grand-slammed a home run with this double-sider, refreshing the sound and bringing new life to proven classics.
