Butta 45s Selects (Selecta M)

As the upcoming Butta 45’s 9th anniversary Germany tour is quickly approaching and kicks off this Thursday night, we continue with out Butta 45’s Selects and this time Selecta M stops by to drop a few choice pulls from his bag that he’ll be dropping the needle down on during the tour. Selecta M has been a heavy collector and spinner on the Reggae scene for years in Germany and has gained quite an ear for funk, latin and disco 45’s which he’s nicely included into his repertoire which shows a lot about his musical diversity.

Dave “Diddle” Day “Blue Baby Moon” (Mercury) – A tune I discoverd through the famous Cramps way back when I was digging Psycho/Rockabilly and 60s Garage, a real pusher.

Gwen McCrae “All This Love That I’m Givin” (Cat) – I just l-o-v-e this song. Nothing more to say!

Orchester Walter Kubiczeck “King-Kong” (Amiga) – Picking up the pace and entering into the  Disco realm, Walter Kubiczeck created a heavy score for the great Eastern German crime series “Das unsichtbare Visier”. Check out the part when this track hits the scene.

Los Ribereños “Silbando” (Polydor) – A real floorfiller in the latin section either to set fire or to cool it down.

Soul Vendors “Swing Easy” (Coxsone) – When it comes to Rocksteady and Reggae for me it’s extremely hard to pick my favourite big tune or riddim. This massive Rocksteady instrumental from 1967 is just one of severals which layed the blueprint for a whole genre which still alive an influenced so may others.

Johnny Osbourne “No Lollipop No Sweet So” (Jah Guidance) – Favourite tune by favourite singer. Warm up, peak time, closing – rewind guaranteed.
