2020 has been quite the year to say the least on both a positive as well as a not so positive note but on the plus side, we’re still here with the opportunity to talk about some great new music that has been debuting during the pandemic. As a DJ, turning out multiple mixes for podcasts and radio shows since the beginning of the pandemic, one would think that there would be a shortage of new music to service our needs but surprisingly, that’s not the case which is quite obvious with the new release from Danced ‘Til Midnight.
During these past months, the Essex-based DJ, producer and musician known as Danced ‘Til Midnight has wasted no time in keeping his creativity flowing while setting up to deliver a fine slice of funk goodness and double-sider. Working two ends of the sound spectrum, “Low Slung” featuring Nosaj (aka Jason Furlow) graces the A-side delivering head nod lyrics over a gritty bassline, and slick wah wah guitar that’ll make you throw your hands in the air. Flip it over like a sizzling steak and you’ve got what every breakbeat junkie loses their mind over, drums! And in this case, the rumor remains true, the B-side wins again with “Demerera Dash”, an all out, Bboy / Bgirl gem that’s heavy on the drums and funky with the horns that’s smooth like butta.
With that being said, the new Dance ‘Til Midnight is a crate essential and a definitely doubles are a must for the B-side. Regardless if you’re an old school break boy or a new school drum fanatic, cop the drop when it’s released and be sure to play it loud!
