Surprise Chef – Daylight Savings

On a musical note, 2020 just continues to get better and better as the days go by with an incredible amount of music, especially full length LP’s being released. Coming in off of the heels of their debut LP, Surprise Chef sets up to knock pins down with their second full length, “Daylight Savings”. Once again, Melbourne’s cinematic soul journeymen take us on a sonic adventure to tingle our ear drums with excitement.

Recorded over a weekend in Surprise Chef’s DIY analogue studio (dubbed The College Of Knowledge), Daylight Savings expands on the dramatic 1970s cinematic soul sound established on their acclaimed first album, 2019’s All News Is Good News. Created in Spring 2019, just as the jasmine bush in the backyard of the College Of Knowledge was coming to full bloom, Daylight Savings is filled with the optimism and hope that comes with the impending long, warm evenings after a dreary Melbourne winter.

Talk about a stellar cinematic work of art! “Daylight Savings” hits the right notes while painting a picture and telling a story without the need of visuals, car chases, explosions or dramatic spots. Another sure shot and crate essential especially for those who love soundtracks, Library LPs and cinematic flair.
