KEXP x True Player Presents HP&B (Recap)

This past Saturday night, Seattle’s KEXP and True Player threw a one night all 45 affair in honor of the the world reknowned Funk & Soul party, HP&B which began in 2006 and became an international traveling event which hosted some of the best DJ’s across the globe. KEXP and True Player honored the brand by throwing the night and booking 45 slingers Supreme La Rock, Double Peas, DJ King Otto, Grizz 206 and Skeme Richards to play live sets of Funk & Soul for the packed house in attendance at the newly opened Madame Lou’s.

Seeing a full house of people on the dance floor made it feel like old times and especially happier times as we’re coming out of and hopefully the end of the pandemic. It was definitely great to hear people say that they needed to enjoy a night out dancing after not being able to do so in months and that seeing this DJ lineup was one not to be missed. From some of Seattle’s finest DJs and collectors, lovers of the music and culture and all around fans of the brand that remembered late nights playing at Lo-Fi alongside long running party DUG, the room was filled with love and excitement.

The party had a strong 10 year run globally and was respected for throwing some of the best nights in Philly, New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, Germany, Switzerland, Japan and Korea before ending it on a high note as the 45 medium became a trend and cities were being flooded with 45 nights.

Big ups to Supreme La Rock for hosting and making an amazing night happen. You truly are a true player and Seattle OG!
