This past weekend was definitely one for the books as the Butta family took over Dante’s HiFi in Austin Texas for Austin Record Convention weekend. For two nights, Supreme La Rock, Double Peas and myself blessed the good people at Dante’s with special sets. Friday was Cinco De Mayo so of course Latin records were on deck and then on Saturday night it was all about the funk, soul, disco celections. It’s always a pleasure to play at one of the Dante’s locations and Austin is shaping up to become something special. Great vibe and energy, amazing sound system, beautiful people and attention to details in every way. With it being ARC weekend, we had to obviously fit in some digging at the show and check a few wants off of the list as well as making sure to get out BBQ fill at Terry Black’s as well.
It was great to see so many people in attendance over the weekend all in one spot. Shows still bring people together unlike anything else as people drove and flew from all over to get their fill in of records. Record conventions are the place to be when on the hunt especially with the size of ARC and the quality of dealers there and the prices were definitely on point.
