Big Boss Man – Das Freak

There’s something about the sounds of classic spacey disco with party rocking breaks that take the dance floor to outer realms of pleasure and enjoyment. A vibe and energy of something that you have to physically witness to even begin to understand exactly what that means, but if you’ve been there then you have indeed been lifted off of your feet and taken to a higher level. Recreating that type of sound and atmosphere that will surely take you there, is the latest 7″ release by Big Boss Man with “Das Freak”.

Proclaimed as the UK’s ‘punks of funk’ which is aptly put if you ask us and obviously no strangers to interweaving the sounds of 60s r’n’b, soul, latin, funk and bongo-hammond-fuzz, they’ve been bridging the sound gaps and connecting the dots since 1998 in their signature way. The latest single carries on what the quartet is widely known for and then some with an infectious vibes and heavy disco breaks that makes it for a crate essential as the weather starts to warm up, festivals begin and the world moves to the sound of one rhythm.

Das Freak serves as a double-sider with the original on the A-side and a more refined and stripped down version on the flip which takes a no frills approach and makes it easy for the DJ who doesn’t mind putting in a little work on the doubles. As they say, “this is it, this is it!”, mark our words, you’re going to want to be ahead of the pack when it comes to playing this one out.
