This past Sunday evening after an all night affair in Kobe the previous night, I jumped on the Shinkansen back to Tokyo to guest spot and play a set on Tokyo’s Tsubaki FM with host Midori Aoyama. Midori plays a wide selection of music from Jazz to Afro, House to Funk on his show so when I got the invite to swing through, I happily agreed. Armed with the nothing more than the record backs that I had packed from Kobe, I began to layout an hour and a half set opening up things up with classic Funk 45s then moving into some newer ones and breaking records from Funk Night Records, Lugnut Brand Records and other independent labels pushing forward with releases that need to be heard.
