A few weeks back while in Vancouver I got to link up with the homegirl and extremely talented DJ, Beaubien who has been doing some incredible things at her club nights, radio show and special events. We discussed doing a mix together at some point and it wasn’t long after I returned back home that the ideas began flowing and we decided to move forward with it. Beaubien who is a House music DJ and lover is also a fan of Jazz and has been doing her night at the Distillery for 5 years. As for myself, I love jazz of all sorts weather it be the sample based records of the 90’s that can be heard on some of my favorite Hip Hop recordings, Japanese jazz or the heavy influx of new recordings from independent labels and artists across the globe making new music.
What we came up with is “Mixed East To West”, an exploration into the the very jazzy realms spanning the sounds of the future past to modern throwbacks all in a 2hr timeframe. Tune in and enjoy the sounds and remember, sharing is caring so tell a friend to tell a friend about the mix!
