Whenever I’m traveling to other cities or countries, I always try to explore outside of the usual tourist areas to find the gems that are in the neighborhoods and far away from the heavy foot traffic which always make for the best finds. It’s usually the places that only the locals go and the locals always know best when it comes to food. One of the hidden gems that I found while staying in the Taito City vicinity was the Mobile Yanaka Beer Hall, basically a food truck that serves fresh baked pizza’s and beer. The mobile truck is an extension of the physical restaurant also located in Taito City.
Now when you think of pizza, one of the last places that most would associate it with is Japan. But considering the Japanese love of all things, it’s within the top 5 places that I would expect it to be official and good. The great thing about this truck is that it actually has a wood burning oven located inside and the ingredients are all fresh. You won’t find canned tomatoes here and everything is made to order. There are 4 types of pies and 2 different beers to choose from with a nice seating area outside to enjoy your meal.
