As a DJ who pre the pandemic traveled the globe breaking records and playing parties world and dug for the most amazing music recorded by local bands and labels, I’ve always come back home and realized that a label that released artists that recorded the types of sounds that I loved in the way of Funk, Psych and cinematic compositions didn’t exists. That is until now after getting hipped to the new Eraserhood Sound label located right here in Philly and put on my radar by the homie DJ Botany 500 (Milkcrate Cafe).
After catching a snippet of the upcoming release, Burgundy Mist b/w Percy St. by Fantasy 15 which blew me away, I knew I had to whip up a feature here on Nostalgia King to help get the word out about something fresh coming out from the 215.
“Fantasy 15 is a band of mortal fighters striving to prevent an evil & merciless digital government from destroying the entire galaxy…Armed with analog synthesizers and a never ending supply of primordial rhythms reminiscent of Nigerian funk, Brazilian tropicalia and New York City new wave, the rebel group works diligently day and night to save all of humanity from the horrors of robotic automation. When they are not busy saving the world, Fantasy 15 serve as the house band for Philadelphia-based “Synth & Soul” record label Eraserhood Sound. After releasing their debut 7″ in 2020, the group are proud to beam their latest 45 “Burgundy Mist / Percy St.” into Earth’s atmosphere. Lead single “Burgundy Mist” is a lush, tropical slow jam featuring a sophisticated rhythm section, electrifying guitars, and euphoric flutes. Flip side “Percy St.” features a hypnotic groove, bolts of analog synthesizer, and angelic vocal harmonies. This 45 proves to be another masterful slice of intergalactic synth funk from Fantasy 15.”
