Steve Ippolito – Continuum

99% of the time whenever I’m at a record show, dealers in the know will hip me to something vintage that they believe that I might be into and over the years I’ve scored some pretty great records to add to the collection. But it’s rather rare that a dealer will tell me about a new release that is a must listen which of course then piques my curiosity.  Such is the case with the new release by Steve Ippolito who the homie from Dirt Digs Records & Tapes excitedly informed me about this past weekend at VinylCon in Philly. Being from Philly, it’s only right that I show love to the other side of the state and Pittsburg to be exact where Ippolito resides and dive right in to his amazing new debut album, Continuum.

The Continuum quintet is made up of guitarist Josh Wulff, bassist Denzel Chismar Oliver, EVI player Adam Bleil, keyboardist Michael Bernabe, and led by drummer Steve Ippolito. The debut album is an exploration of the continuous ebb and flow of life, capturing the ever-evolving nature of time, emotion, and self-discovery. The album brings together elements of ambient, electronic, jazz, and pop music, seamlessly woven into an intricate, multi-layered narrative that reflects the complexity of the human experience. Each track is a movement within a larger whole, inviting listeners to journey through a spectrum of moods, textures, and tempos.

This album marks a new chapter in Ippolito’s career, blending diverse influences, innovative soundscapes, and personal themes into a mesmerizing sonic experience.

“I wanted Continuum to be an album that reflects the constant motion and transformation we experience throughout our lives,” says Steve Ippolito. “The idea of continuity is central to everything—how moments blend together, how we change over time, and how music itself connects us across distances and generations.”
