Sushi With Skeme Richards (Okaya)

This past weekend I traveled outside of Tokyo to visit some friends, play a party and of course, find my favorite foods prepared locally. As someone that’s always on the quest to find the best and freshest sushi whenever I’m in Japan, taking the long trip away from the big cities to smaller prefectures always seems to provide some of the best. But with most anything, you always have to confirm with the locals who are familiar with the surroundings and know the best places to go. Is it the fish or is it just the local hospitality and company that you share the experience with that makes it even better? I’d have to say it’s both. You can’t truly enjoy or experience food and culture without the people that you break bread with in that moment. There’s really something special and memorable about it.
