Blademasters – King’s Knight / Live By The Blade

Blademasters is a new Melbourne instrumental project formed by Patrick Ryan (Cantrips) and Lachlan Stuckey (Surprise Chef) and is set to deliver something so reminiscent of the early 90’s era of digging for records and the discovery of one of the most creative composers of all time, David Axelrod. Axelrod has never had a bad album so it’s no wonder that he is highly regarded as one of the greats and have influenced not only Hip Hop producers but also musicians of the past and present alike and it really shows.

The new Blademasters 45 draws on the spirit of David Axelrod’s bold cinematic jazz works of the 1960s and 1970s (Songs Of Experience, Pride and The Electric Prunes’ Release Of An Oath), the debut Blademasters release King’s Knight / Live By The Blade features Stuckey and Ryan performing delicate acoustic guitar arrangements in unison, set against dramatic movements by a rhythm section comprising Hudson Whitlock (Karate Boogaloo, The Pro-Teens, Frollen Music Library), Jethro Curtin (Surprise Chef) and Tom Pettit (Let Your Hair Down).
