Nautilus – Sunken Scores

If you know me, then you know just how much I love film soundtracks and library scores just as much as I love the movies themselves and enjoy incorporating them into my sets. I’m always on the lookout for anything new recorded in that world and over the last handful of years there have been some amazing releases that fall into that lane of soundtrack and library themes and there is finally something new that I’m extremely excited about announcing. Having gotten a first hand listen back in December and have been enjoying the test pressing at home, the world finally gets to hear what I have been for the last few months, the new “Sunken Scores” by Japanese Rare Groove trio, Nautilus. If you’ve been following here at Nostalgia King then you’ve most likely read reviews of their previous projects, purchased the cassette that I had the pleasure of mixing of their music or have seen them on tour in Germany alongside DJ Oonops.

For Sunken Scores, Nautilus takes a deep dive into the sound of television and film to cover and recreate some of the most iconic and funky compositions from some of the greatest composers in the industry. The trio recreates classics like the always favorite, “Three Days of Condor” by the incredible Dave Grusin, “Twin Peaks Theme”, “The Bionic Woman” “Dr Who Theme” and “Brothers Going To Work It Out” from the movie The Mack.

Nautilus will be on tour this summer in Germany from May 26 – June 26 so if you’re in and around, I highly suggest you sort out a date and experience them live.
