Slow or Fast: A Love Letter To Black Music

There’s always something special about connecting with good humans around the world while breaking bread, sharing similar interests and understanding exactly where they’re supposed to be in life. Those connections are become increasingly hard to find especially within the social media realm where people and things aren’t what they seem to be and costumes are always a part of the daily uniform. One person that I’ve met and have had the pleasure of connecting the dots with is the homie DJ Rico, a thoroughbred in every sense of the word who understands the value of preserving culture, specifically Black culture. East Coast born and raised yet a globe traveler who calls Japan a second home as much as I do, it’s no mystery why Rico and myself are on the same page.

A man of few words who has one of the most amazing record collections and always something in the works, he’s been slowly rolling out it his Slow Or Fast brand which exists to respect process, craft, and continuity – carrying culture forward with care, one record at a time. And in perfect timing to kick things off for Black History Month, Rico has pulled a selection of choice records for Slow Or Fast: A Love Letter To Black Music. It’s a warm and perfectly curated soundtrack combined with amazing visuals that historically represents the lineage and people who created this music.

Enjoy, and thank me later!
