Easing into this rainy Monday with a slice of soul that that’s got heads nodding with anticipation of the upcoming single by The Charities with ‘Movin’ On”. If you’re not hipped or familiar with the 6 piece sweet soul band that hails from sunny California, then do so now. This is their second release on Colemine Records which is absolutely the perfect label for them and we’re excited for much more in the future.
The A-side, ‘Movin’ on,’ is a song written by producer / engineer and long time collaborator Anthony Masino (Bruno Mars, Thee Sacred Souls, Womack Sisters). Tracked and mixed at Penrose Recorders in Riverside, CA, the song is a breakup classic. Full of soul, it’s a hard reflection of life’s decisions. A powerful song that gets straight to the point; both sonically sad and triumphant.
On the B is “I’m Still Learning How.” Heavily inspired by many great 60s songs featuring two-part harmonies, the song expresses that love is a learning curve. Just because things don’t work out initially doesn’t mean you can’t grow and learn.
