Like him or not on the field, there’s no denying that Lebron James is doing some incredible things off the field that are helping to change the lives of people. Following up the opening of his “I Promise” school which recently opened, James is the executive producer of the upcoming HBO documentary, “Student Athlete” which goes opens up the conversation of how schools and coaches are making billions of dollars off of student athletes, many who live below the poverty line while they have hopes of becoming a professional but making nothing along the journey.
I equate this same thing to the music business and how record labels wave the riches over many artists heads and make them go the extra mile while the labels, executives and lawyers make the real money. There definitely needs to be a change in the way these tactics are done in the educational field with these athletes who ultimately are the reasons why coaches have a job.
