The Headhunters should really need no introduction if you’re a reader of Nostalgia King, DJ or collector. Formed by the one and only Herbie Hancock in 1973, this Jazz-funk band created a complex blend of many styles and genres, including jazz, funk, African and Afro-Caribbean music. Most Hip Hop heads will know them for their track “God Make Me Funky” which was featured in the movie Wild Style with Grand Master Flash cutting doubles in his kitchen, sampled by the likes of Steady B for “Bring The Beat Back” (1986) and countless others. But The Headhunters are more than just samples and Hip Hop staples, they’re all around funky, jazz greatness and always a good listen.
