Soul Supreme – Dues and Dont’s

The road to become known as a great musical artists can either be bumpy and turbulent one, or or one found with sunny blue skies and smooth sailing. Either way, there are plenty of up’s and down’s and of course “Dues and Dont’s” along the way that make that journey slightly less about the music and a bit more about the nature of the business that comes along with it. Regardless of the road traveled, there’s no denying that Amsterdam-based keyboardist and producer is well on his way to being not only great, but one of the greatest modern day music.

Since 2019, great friend and all around good human Soul Supreme has been steadily adding to his discography of both the reimagining of classics as well as original tunes. His debut release, The Message b/w Umi Say’s on Chicago’s Tugboat Editions introduced the world to a name that would become commonplace in the scene and since then he’s released 5 45’s and 2 LP’s on his own label, Soul Supreme Records which shows just how serious that he’s taking his career and putting things in his own hands.

With a solid run thus far under his belt, Soul Supreme is set to release his first 45 of 2024 with “Dues and Don’t” b/w “Fraud Fades”, a double-sider of head-nod jazz-funk and uptempo floor filling jazz that exposes just how talented he is and understands just how to put new recordings together. Once again working various musicians including the likes of our favorite drummer Jay Mumford (formally known as J-Zone) who has become synonyms with funky drums and can most like related to titles on both the A/B sides.  Adding Soul Supreme releases to the essential crates list has become mandatory and will surely be heavy spins for years to come.
