How DC Comics Botched The Black Superhero

As a kid and comic reader growing up in the 70s and 80’s Marvel Comics was always the top choice but DC still had appeal and my attention with certain titles and characters. While Marvel Comics was early tackling race issues and showing Black faces, DC played the safe route by keeping their characters primarily white. Over the years, there had been multiple times of them “trying” to include Black characters but of course dropping the ball or missing the mark each time as to not alienate their buyers (as if there weren’t and Black people buying their books) as well as not wanting to piss off their buyers in the south. CRACKED recently did a story on 5 Stupid Times DC Managed To Suck At Black Superheroes which makes for a great read and history.
