Digging Albuquerque 2022

Albuquerque New Mexico is one of those stops that’s a destination and not necessarily a drive through but well worth a visit for the sights, art, vintage cars and food if you’re ever in driving distance. But for those of us who are collectors and are in the know and connected, it’s well worth a visit to do a little digging especially for records and comics. This past week I flew into Albuquerque to play the Leftover Soul 9th anniversary party and no trip as ever complete without stopping by Slolow Vinyl and a few comic shops Age of Comics and Comic Warehouse.

After landing Tuesday morning it was right to the hotel to drop my bags off and then straight to check out a few comic shops to see what I could pull for the collection. The first stop was to Comic Warehouse where there was a solid selection of back issues and the cheap side at that which was refreshing to see. A 15 minute drive away and I landed at Age of Comics which was a well curated higher end comic shop with a serious back issue section of high grade books, CGC graded books, figurines and art.

While digging at Slolow I found a few pieces that I could check off the list including some Texas funk 45’s, rare psych 45’s and no trip is complete without finding a local 45 as well. In addition to a few 45’s, Jazz LP’s are always on my list so packing the suitcase with a few is always a plus.

All and all, I never leave Albuquerque empty-handed and it’s always interesting to see what can be found in different parts of the country that I don’t see often here on the East Coast.
