Do you find yourself from time to time kicking ones self in the arse for having slept on a release that you now regret that you’ll be paying a premium for on the secondary market? Of course it happens to the best of us but it stings even more when it’s such a crate essential that you were really looking forward to play. That’s what I’ve heard from a handful of people that chose not to make grabbing the most recent release by Nautilus a priority when setting their alarm clocks. SOLD OUT in a flash, “Half A Minute” b/w “Dirty Old Bossa Nova” an absolute gem and even though we’re late to doing our part in making sure that you were in the know due to being in Japan on tour, we’re going to need you to track down a copy ASAP!
“Oonops is back with another essential and highly-limited co-operation project on a 45 with Japanese Jazz trio Nautilus. It’s time to cover two more pieces of catchy earworms from back in the days: Starting on the A-side with Matt Bianco’s 80s classic “Half A Minute” which gets the Nautilus treatment. In their unique way they transform it into a smooth and deep jazzy version with a big funky bass line, playful keys and drums plus the beautiful voice of Mizuki Kamata on top (who was involved in their songs “Move On Up” and “Tom’s Diner” as well).
On the flipside we go back into the 60s and where you’ll get a big groove monster version of “Dirty Old Bossa Nova” (The Howard Roberts Quartet) with lots of bass and keys before Toshiyuki Sasaki on the drums turns it from Bossa Nova into a heavy drum’n’bass style.”
As collectors and music lovers, we always say, #digforyours so this is one of those times we highly recommend you doing exactly that!
Proceeds of the sales of this limited pressing goes to fund that bands upcoming tour which we suggest you should catch if you’re looking for an amazing live performance.
