Skeme Richards Digs Tava Tava Rare

Dropping this Friday is my new cassette, Skeme Richards Digs Tava Tava Rare!

Film, music and cinematic soundscapes have always gone hand in hand and over the years, Skeme Richards has curated various projects and releases that reflect his love of all of the above. Coming off of his previous cinematic expedition titled Watch For The Fuzz, Skeme sets things up to take you on a journey to the Land of The Rising Sun via Isernia, Italy. Now you may be asking yourself, what is the connection between Italy and Japan and how it all connects cinematically.

Well the answer is simple when you have a label like Tava Tava Rare that is responsible for curating and releasing both the known and lesser known soundtracks from Japan in the anime and exploitation film genres which have become sought after and highly appreciated BGM’s and soundtracks. Since 2017, Tava Tava Rare has not only dug deep into Japanese films but Italian crime genre films as well and does an outstanding job at curating a serious listening experience for fans.

For Skeme’s upcoming cassette tape release, he takes a deep dive into the Tava Tava Rare catalog collecting some of his favorite anime and Tokusatsu soundtracks on the A side, including Mazinger Z, UFO Robot Grendizer, Kamen Rider, Umi No Toriton and Tiger Mask while exploring a different side of Japan on the B side which covers the more gritty side of Japanese detective series, Pink Violence and exploitation films.

Japanese soundtracks are especially known for being highly sought after for their killer jazz-funk and rare groove selections which diggers and music lovers acquire for their collections and DJ’s play out at their bar and club nights which specialize in funk, soul, jazz, rare groove and city pop. What you’ll here on this special curation and collaboration between Tava Tava Rare, Record Breakin’ Music and Skeme Richards is an experience unlike any other and in a way that only Skeme Richards can put together.

Limited to 100 cassette copies available on April 4, 2025 in the Nostalgia King online store
