While in Germany on the Butta 45’s tour, I had a few days off in between dates so I decided to take the 5 hour train ride from Köln to Zurich Switzerland. The trip started out rather easy but if you know anything about the German train system, then you know that it’s one of the worst when it comes to substantial delays and missed connections which was indeed the case during my travels which turn a beautiful 5hr trip into almost an 8hr puzzle of which platform and which train is the correct one. After a restful night of sleep I decided to take a trip high above the city of Zurich to Uetliberg to enjoy the beautiful views. Having been to Zurich on quite a few occasions, I’m rather surprised myself that I’ve never visited so there’s no better time than the present time. After making my way to the main train station it was a brief transfer to the tram which moves from the city center high above into the mountains.
After a 20 minute or so ride through the mountains, you could start to see the beauty of another place so far, yet so close to the city but a more peaceful place. Once we arrived at the final stop, it was still a 15 minute hike to the top where there was both old an young, walking and biking their way to what would be the ultimate 360 degree view and one of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen. Once reaching the top and taking in the views, it’s only right to enjoy a beer and lunch to tie the experience all together.
“The Uetliberg is a mountain in the Swiss plateau, part of the Albis chain, rising to 870 m. The mountain offers a panoramic view of the entire city of Zürich, Zürichberg and Lake Zurich, and lies on the boundary between the city of Zurich and the municipalities of Stallikon and Uitikon in the canton of Zurich.”
