Over the last few years we’ve seen and heard some of the most amazing collaborations coming out from both our favorite visual an musical artists that have tipped the scale in and weighed heavy on our collections in a very positive way. The output of music has been astounding giving us genres across the board and opening our ears to new sounds from those creative individuals. Collaborations have become the new way of broadening horizons with creative pairings each bringing their sides of the coin and creating some that fans will enjoy. One of the most recent collabs that we’re excited for here at Nostalgia King combines two favorites in the musical world with JJ Whitefield and Markey Funk.
Born out of a spontaneous studio jam, Mozaik Ses is a collaboration between Munich legend JJ Whitefield (The Poets of Rhythm, Karl Hector & the Malcouns), members of VuVuVu, and Delights’ head confectioner, Markey Funk. On their new release, extracted from the same recording as their debut 45, “Aralkum/Zellij”, they blend a cinematic funk aesthetic with Krautrock’s free improvisational spirit. Like two ingredients of a fine 70s Eurocrime flick, you get the fierce action theme “The Last Shootout”, paired on the flipside with “Wormhole” – a moody, slow-burning groove that unfolds into a fuzz-heavy, mind-bending trip.
