There’s nothing like the excitement of getting new releases in the post especially when it’s unexpected and when you’re being introduced to an artists that you weren’t previously up on. Well that’s exactly what happened today with the morning mail call containing a package from the good people over at Lugnut Brand Records with the upcoming release from The Heavy Sounds.
The Heavy Sounds are a live instrumental Soul/R&B band based out of Chicago, IL. This debut release for Lugnut Brand Records was recorded in their hometown at Reliable Recorders/Hi-Style with ace recording engineer Alex Hall. Both original tracks were recorded with all four members playing together in one room with no headphones, capturing the bands live spirit and interplay. Honey Driver gives a heavy nod to the sound of Booker T. & the MG’s, while Oddjob showcases the band in it’s element, lending something new to the vintage sound of the classic organ-led quartet.
