There are people who place DJ in front of their name and are as labeled as such on a flyer and then there are actual persons doing the job of making and breaking records, digging deep and playing for beautiful people that are actually DJs. There’s a thin line between the two but an obvious difference for those that know what to look for and understand the important role between them. As a DJ who obviously comes from a vinyl background and plays the majority of my parties carrying bags of records, it is without a doubt the absolute truth that it is those DJ’s who dig, carry vinyl and play funk, soul, disco, jazz, rare grooves and other non formulaic popular music are the ones who are the true preservers of dance floors and clubs world wide and continue to break both new and old music.
