For a record label to debut 20 releases it seems like it would take quite some time but when it comes to Dusty Donuts, you’ll notice that they’ve wasted no time with hitting this milestone. It actually seems like just yesterday that we were celebrating the 10th release and here we are with a short box filled with finely crafted edits from them.
For release number 020 we once again hear Jim Sharp (who was behind the first release and various others in the catalog) working his magic alongside the newest member of the crew, DJ Goce as they take on something that should sound oddly familiar to some and especially to those who are long time J Dilla fans. Sometimes you need to dig a little deeper which is exactly what the duo did here on this Dilla sample source that was only used as an intro for early Slum Village live shows and rescued from a 10 second clip off of VHS. “Feeling Good” definitely does the job and makes our souls feel good with the way that it was flipped using a simple jazz piano, swingin drums and vocals.
