Who doesn’t love a good cover version to a classic song? Well at least the ones that are done well and actually do the original justice but not necessarily copying but more so paying homage with the band adding their own twist on it. In 2018 the cover is still alive and well and with the over saturation of producers trying to remix old classics that honestly don’t need to be touched, we prefer when actual bands with talents go in and play versus anyone with a computer simply extending the break an extra bar.
Here are five cover versions of 2018 that hit the nail on the head and bring new life to long standing classics.
The Sure Fire Soul Ensemble – “Aragon” (Roy Ayers Coffy Soundtrack)
The Traffic – “California Love”
The Zone Identity – “Melting Pot”
Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band – “Xxplosive”
Chris Hazelton’s Boogaloo 7 – 100 Days, 100 Nights
