With the amount of overly reissued reissues hitting the bins these days, it’s always satisfying when new bands record and get placement but it’s equally as satisfying when previously unreleased gems finally get their spotlight and ready to hit dance floors for the first time which is exactly what Cordial Recordings has in store for their upcoming release. Hailed as one of the finest live bands in Chicago in the 1970’s, Sons of Slum recorded for both Stax and Gamma but anything from their second album remained unreleased until now with the sweet double-sider featuring “Music Is Message” b/w “Show Me Tell Me”. Music Is Message is a disco funk dance floor worker while Show Me Tell Me cools it down with a simmering two-stepper giving you something nice twice for the price of one.
