We love a good release based around a cinematic theme that actually makes sense and connects the title with the actual production that accompany’s it and sets a tone that you can actually feel. There’s something about projects of that sort that come together and combine our love of action and drama, 70’s exploitation grit and of course Sci-Fi. The UK’s DJ Nappa who we’ve previously covered here at Nostalgia King recently released an album which checks all of those boxes and and delivers a soundscape that was heavily inspired by Horror, Sci-Fi and Thriller films of the 1970’s and 1980’s for his “Midnight Music” debut. As a film lover, listening to Midnight Music feels like a movie without visuals but still tells a story which can have it’s own beginning and end, depending on who the listener is. One that takes you in different directions and moods but all equally staying on course with the chose genre and theme.
DJ Nappa is known for his versatility as a producer, and this album shows that off more than ever. With Nappa’s knowledge, expertise and masterful ear for chopping and layering samples the 20 instrumental tracks weave their way through dark alleyways, twisted thoughts, otherworldly happenings and terrifying characters! Once again adding another stand out project to his run of releases under the We Stay True banner.
